Ramblers’ Association - Company Limited by Guarantee Registration No 4458492
We are a newish group, established in 1999 as an offshoot of Chelmer and Blackwater Group to provide a single RA Group to cover Maldon District Council.. Our base is largely in the area known as “The Dengie”. The main towns, other than Maldon, are Southminster, Burnham-on-Crouch and Bradwell-next-to-Sea. We have the de-commissioned Bradwell Nuclear Power Station that, so far, has justified keeping the rail link to London, Liverpool Street, open.
Our district is a haven for bird-watching and features long seawall walks and big Essex skies. We walk on Tuesdays (10 to 12 miles) and Sundays, (5 to 8 miles, sometimes more) Walks generally start at 10am and finish about 3 to 4pm (day ) walks, and about 1pm (half-days). Lunch is usually taken in pubs.
