If you encounter a problem with a path eg:
It is blocked by the landowner, or crops, especially rape, nettles etc,
Furniture such as stiles, bridges etc are damaged or dangerous etc
You can report it to Essex County Coucil by clicking here.
You will need to hand: 1) the grid reference at the problem location
2) local parish and footpath number
3) a clear description of the problem.
Once you have entered this information you will be given an enquiry number and a WEB number. This means the complaint can be tracked and developments noted.
If you have any problems you should contact the local footpaths’ officers (click on names).
Maldon and Dengie Hundred: Kevin Ascott
Chelmer and Blackwater: John Pavitt
You should copy your complaint to the appropriate footpaths’ officer together with a note of the enquiry and WEB numbers. These officers would also like to know the result of your complaint. They may also be able to put you in touch with a footpaths’ officer outside these two areas.
