Mike has been a keen and dedicated chair and Cyril a diligent secretary. Both have worked hard on our behalf and deserve our grateful thanks.
I commend this programme to you. I hope that you find it varied and meets your needs. We continue to offer two walks on Tuesdays and one on Sundays.
Viv is still taking bookings for our Norfolk hostel weekend, 8/11 October, so please contact her straight away if you are interested.
Congratulations to the Ramblers who are celebrating their 75th Anniversary in September.

Friday 28th May
Seventeen Maldon and Dengie members arrived at the Youth Hostel ‘Woody’s Top’ on the top of Rucklands Hill for their weekend break.
Woody’s Top was opened in 1948 and replaced Farforth Hostel just over the hill. “Woody’s Top” derives its name from “Mr Woods Top Barn” which was about all it was when the YHA took it over.
For many years it was extremely Spartan, water was brought up a very steep hill in a wheeled chariot and toilets were of the agricultural kind.
Today it is a lovely little hostel with family rooms, showers and indoor toilets. The Hostel is in the middle of fields and we could see wonderful views all around.
Our first walk was really enjoyable with views all the way. The sun shone on us and most of the terrain was easy walking. We arrived back at the Hostel after nearly 4 miles where tea and cakes were prepared by the members who walked faster than others.
After tea it was shower time and sort out rooms and beds; all good fun.
